Setting Up Home Bar
It’s nice to plan a holiday party, but once the commitment is made, the reality sinks in, and the work begins. Not everyone is blessed with a finished basement, ready for parties, complete with an oak wet bar and dance floor. Not to do with a little work and some creativity you can create your own temporary bar.
Portable bars are great. You can wheel them out when you need them, and they are already filled with all necessities. If you do not own one of these, a switch to run the bar can easily be adjusted and tailored to your needs. Here are some things to remember when you set your beverage center.
Location, location, location
Location is probably your most important decision when you set your bar station. Guests automatically attracted to the bar at a party, then decide what area of the home that you want people to assemble. If you have a small kitchen, this is not the best location. The proximity of a sink is a bonus but not a necessity. Some people like to set up their bar, so it acts as a blockade to prevent people walking in certain areas of the house. Try an area where you get extra space to store bottles and supplies can be found in the back. A kitchen island or other designated area works well as long as you treat files as you cook. I’ve also heard of people using bookshelves or outdoor terrace (weather permitting). Wherever you decide, make sure that there is room for people to stand around and mix.
Reuse and Recycling
Setting up a portable bar does not mean go out and buy new furniture. Chances are that you have something lying around the house that would be suitable. Small tables and carts to work properly. I’ve even seen someone use an old barrel.
Stock your bar
Ice storage, one of your first considerations. A small bucket, a continued need for complete, will only lead to unnecessary work. Try a larger container such as a planter tidy, an urn or a large bowl to get. I’ve even seen someone take a big cooler, place it next to the bar and talking about flowing with cold drinks.
Show your bottles, glasses, openers, and mix so that guests can easily help themselves. Make sure the juice, pop, a jar of water, lime slices and / or lemon and olives contain.
Give your bar some pizzazz
Now it’s time to pull the flashy pieces and make your bar stand out. Take it into your crystal bowls and spices silver bowls to hold to display glass. If you have a theme for your party, try and reflect in your bar décor. Do they look like a beach hut for Hawaiian theme or show pine branches for a holiday celebration. Setting up a wine tasting area in advance to open multiple bottles and put them out. If the party is a great game, setting up the barrel and holding a couple of sports photos or other memorabilia.
When finished, pour yourself a drink to celebrate and wait for visitors to start pouring in.
